The Mooresville Police and Community Together (MPACT) East District encompasses 15.2 square miles of incorporated city limits. It includes Mooresville’s entire Historic district consisting of both business and residential sites most notably the historic Mill Village community, Cascade neighborhood, and our Downtown central business area. Some of the historic buildings within the district are D.E. Turner Hardware, First Presbyterian Church, Mooresville depot, and the former U.S. Post Office now home to the Mooresville Graded School district office. The east side district is home to all elementary, intermediate, middle, and high school campuses with 5,870 students currently enrolled within the Mooresville Graded School system.
The MPACT east patrol district is divided into four separate response zones. Each response zone has four dedicated officers assigned to patrol and answer calls for service. There are also two Captains and two Sergeants assigned to the district to ensure that line officers have the support they need on a daily basis and adequate supervision is provided. With a hometown family atmosphere, the officers assigned the east district have the ability to meet and greet the resident and business owners and execute their duties on a more friendly, personal level.
Criminal Investigations fall under the authority of the East District Command. Detectives assigned to Investigations are responsible for investigating a variety of crimes including homicides, serious assaults, sex offenses, identity theft, fraud, and other crimes committed against persons and property.
The Mooresville Police Department stands ready to meet the needs and challenges of our progressive Town and diversified community.
Interim Major Coughlin
East District Commander
The West District includes all areas of the within the town limits west of US 21 south and to NC 115. The West District is composed of a wide array of residential, commercial, retail, institutional, and light industrial. At present, commercial, retail and light industrial comprise most of the district. That trend is expected to even out due to the projected amount of residential growth anticipated for the district in the next several years.
The West District is not without challenges. Traffic tends to be the number one concern of all involved parties. As part of our MPACT initiative, we look forward to working with other governmental entities, citizens, and businesses to help alleviate this and other concerns. Our staff appreciates the opportunity to serve you.
