Sister City

The Mooresville-South Iredell Sister Cities, Inc. organization represents a growing area defined by its numerous NASCAR related racing businesses and its proximity to Lake Norman, North Carolina's largest lake. In fact, Mooresville's slogan is "Race City, U.S.A." because it is home to so many NASCAR businesses and race teams as well as being adjacent to Lowe's Motor Speedway.
Founded in 1998, the Mooresville-South Iredell Sister Cities organization is made up of 15 volunteer board members and a volunteer program coordinator with its major funding coming from the Town of Mooresville and the Mooresville Travel and Tourism Bureau. Formerly affiliated with the Mooresville-South Iredell Chamber of Commerce, it is now a non-profit corporation. The Mooresville region is approximately 35 km north of Charlotte, NC.
In June 2002, Hockenheim's Lord Mayor Gustav Schrank hosted the official signing of Mooresville, NC, as its first U.S. Sister City. Mooresville is also a town of approximately 20,000 people and is defined by its numerous NASCAR related racing businesses and its proximity to Lake Norman, North Carolina's largest lake. Known as "Race City, U.S.A," Mooresville is home to many NASCAR race teams and adjacent to Lowe's Motor Speedway.
The Sister Cities Committee in Hockenheim is made up of city councilmen and other interested townspeople. Besides Mooresville, the town has Sister City partnerships with Commercy, France, Hohenstein-Ernstthal (in the state of Saxony in eastern Germany), and Samba, Burkina-Faso.
