Major Anderson


Major Anderson served with the police departments in Salisbury and Spencer before beginning his career with the Mooresville Police Department (MPD) in 1999 as a patrol officer. He was promoted to Sergeant in 2001, Lieutenant in 2002 and Captain in 2008. Anderson has supervised in the Patrol and Investigations divisions, as well as served as the Training/Recruiting Officer for the department. Also, Anderson has served on and commanded the Special Response Team.

Anderson holds instructor certifications in the areas of General Instructor, Specialized Firearms, Subject Control/Arrest Techniques and Rapid Deployment/Active Shooter Response through the North Carolina Department of Justice. He also serves on the Criminal Justice Advisory Board at Mitchell Community College where he is an adjunct instructor. Anderson serves as an instructor in numerous areas of Basic Law Enforcement Training Programs.

Anderson earned an associate degree in Criminal Justice from Rowan-Cabarrus Community College, his Advanced Law Enforcement Certificate and bachelor's degree in Administration of Justice at Catawba College, and a graduate certificate in Police Executive Leadership Development from the University of Louisville in Kentucky. In 2008, he earned a Master of Justice Administration Degree from Methodist University and is a graduate of the 115th Administrative Officers Course through the Southern Police Institute at the University of Louisville.

Anderson received the MPD's Medal of Valor in 2006 and the Meritorious Conduct Medal in 2008. He is a member of the NC Police Executives Association, Top of the Lake Rotary Club and the Race City Civitans.
