Board of Adjustment

Agendas | Minutes

The primary function of the Board of Adjustment (BOA) is to hold public hearings and render decisions for variance requests and for an appeal of a Zoning Administrator's decision. They may also be asked to render interpretations of the Town of Mooresville Zoning Ordinance.

The BOA consists of five regular members and four alternate members. The Board is required to have three members from inside the Town limits and two members from the Town's Extra Territorial Jurisdiction (ETJ). In the event that regular members are absent, alternates are assigned to the vacancies by alternate number. There shall at all times be at least one regular member on the Board that is a resident of the ETJ. Cases may not be heard when there are less than four voting members present.

The BOA meets on an as-needed basis prior to the monthly meeting of the Planning Board. If a BOA meeting is scheduled, it will be on the second Thursday of the month at 7 p.m. in the Executive Board Room at Town Hall. Jim King (704-799-8018) and Mandy Edwards (704-799-4089) are the staff liaisons.
