The primary function of the Planning Board is to hold public meetings in order to evaluate requests that may include, but are not limited to:

• Conditional Use Permits
• Establishment of Zoning
• Extension of Extra Territorial Jurisdiction (ETJ)
• Land Use Plans
• Rezoning and Conditional Rezoning
• Small Area Plans
• Special Districts or Overlays
• Text Amendments
• Transportation Plans
• Zoning Ordinance

The Planning Board forwards their recommendations for action to the Town Board of Commissioners in regard to the requests listed above.

The Planning Board consists of five residents from inside the Town limits and four members from within the Town's Extra Territorial Jurisdiction (ETJ). The Town Board of Commissioners appoints the five members from within the Town limits and the Iredell County Board of Commissioners appoints the four members from the ETJ.

The Planning Board meets the 2nd Thursday of each month at 6 p.m. in the Executive Board Room at Town Hall. Tim Brown (704-799-8019) and Craig Culberson (704-662-7041) are the staff liaisons for the Planning Board.
