The length of this program may vary depending on the incident. Upon completion of this program juveniles will have a better understanding of fire and how dangerous it can be. Fire Smart Program

The Fire Smart Program was developed to educate fourth graders and adults in fire and life safety. The fire and life safety manual was developed by the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Fire and Life Safety Bowl Committee. Through their efforts they have developed a manual to better educate children and adults alike about the dangers of fires and life safety concerns. The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Fire and Life Safety Bowl Committee have also been generous enough to allow this manual to be reproduced to further educate our children within the Mooresville Graded School District and the Town of Mooresville. This display of kindness not only shows the committees willingness to educate every child, but the efforts of working as a team with every fire department to prevent injuries through education. The Mooresville Fire Department would like to thank the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Fire and Life Safety bowl Committee for their efforts and contributions to the fire and life safety education of our children. For questions or to learn more about the Fire Smart Program, please contact gstyers@ci.mooresville.nc.us or at (704) 660-7110

Severe Weather

Citizens should be prepared for potentially damaging weather in Mooresville that can strike at any time. Tornadoes, hurricanes, floods, lightning strikes, snow and ice storms have caused power outages, property damage, environmental destruction, and interruptions in food and water supplies.

The best time to assemble a three-day emergency supply kit is well before you will ever need it. Most people already have these items around the house and it is a matter of assembling them now before an evacuation order is issued. Stocking up now on emergency supplies can add to your family's safety and comfort during and after a disaster.
Preparation includes having adequate insurance and being prepared to make a claim in the event of storm damage. This site includes a section on insurance tips.
