Medical Insurance
Medical insurance is effective after 30 days of employment and the first of the following month. The Town currently pays 100% of the cost for regular full-time employees and a portion of the cost for dependant coverage. Insurance is available for regular part-time employees. The amount paid depends upon the number of hours worked.

Dental Insurance

Vision Insurance
The Town currently pays 100% of the cost for regular full-time employees and a portion of the cost for dependant coverage for vision insurance. Insurance is available for regular part-time employees. The amount paid depends upon the number of hours worked.

Paid Time Off
Vacation/Annual Leave: Employees in regular full-time or regular part-time positions earn vacation leave based on his/her years of service.

Sick Leave: Employees in regular full-time or regular part-time positions earn one day per month of service.

Paid Holidays: There are 11-12 official Town holidays. Employees in regular full-time or regular part-time positions are eligible for paid holiday time.

Retirement Plans
Local Government Retirement System: Every regular employee whose duties require working at least 1,000 hours annually automatically becomes a member of the North Carolina Local Governmental Employees’ Retirement System. The employee and employer contributions, along with the investment earnings on total contributions, pay the cost of providing retirement benefits. This is a defined benefit retirement plan. The employee’s share of the cost is 6% and is automatically deducted from the employee’s paycheck. The Town of Mooresville contributes an additional 6.4% for each eligible employee.

Supplemental Retirement Plan (NC 401K): The Town makes a contribution of 5% to a 401K Plan for all regular full-time and regular part-time employees. There is no employee match required; however, employees have the option of making contributions on a pre- or post-tax basis. This plan is a defined contribution retirement plan.

Life Insurance
The Town provides regular full-time and regular part-time employees with an individual term life insurance policy. Life insurance is equal to the employee’s annual salary, rounded up to the nearest $1,000. Employees have the option of purchasing additional life insurance for a small fee. Dependant life insurance is also available.

Direct Deposit
All employees are required to have direct deposit.

Other Benefits
Credit Union: Employees of the Town are eligible to open accounts with the Local Government Credit Union.

Annual Longevity Pay: Regular full-time and regular part-time employees are provided an annual payment based on years of service to the Town.

Tuition Assistance: The Town provides tuition assistance for regular full-time employees who have completed initial probation for courses taken on their own time which will improve their skills for their current job or prepare them for promotional opportunities within the Town service.

Gym Reimbursement: The Town will refund regular full-time and regular part-time employees $20/month for attending a gym four or more times a month.

Employee Assistance Program: Recognizing that employees are unique individuals with a variety of concerns, the Town offers an Employee Assistance Program. The program provides confidential assessment, referral and follow-up services to help employees who may be experiencing personal problems. The EAP provides timely intervention to prevent personal difficulties from interfering with work performance. Up to six visits are provided to employees at no charge.
