Think Big with a Gig: Woo Google

09 March 2010

Google is planning to build and test ultra high-speed broadband networks in a small number of trial locations across the United States. The company has publicly requested information from local governments, business and members of the public to help identify interested communities.

Google promises Internet speeds more than 100 times faster than what most Americans have access to today with 1 gigabit per second, fiber-to-the-home connections. The company’s stated goal is “to experiment with new ways to help make Internet access better and faster for everyone…The purpose of this project is to experiment and learn.”
