Rezoning

A property owner can request a rezoning of a property to allow for changes in density and permitted uses. When an application is submitted, it is considered first by the Planning staff, then forwarded to the Planning Board for a recommendation. The case information, along with the recommendation made by the Planning Board, is then presented to the Town Board of Commissioners at a public hearing. Notices for the public meeting and public hearing are mailed to all adjacent property owners and advertised locally. The Town Board of Commissioners considers many factors in determining if a rezoning is appropriate. Adopted policy documents such as the Comprehensive Land Use Plan and Small Area Plans are used to determine the appropriateness of a rezoning request.
