Recreation

The Mooresville Recreation and Parks Department operates out of three locations to provide all Mooresville residents the opportunity to enjoy the facilities, leagues and programs. In addition, the department offers nine parks including seven tennis courts, eight outdoor basketball courts, six lighted ball fields and a gym for volleyball, badmittion and basketball. We also offer a wide variety of classes for youth and adults in athletics, creative arts and fitness.

The War Memorial and Winnie L. Hooper Community Center offer year-round programs for youth and adults, as well as summer youth programs. The War Memorial also houses various civic groups and community classes. Both centers are available for rental.

The new 60,000 square-foot Charles Mack Citizen Center is also available for rentals and has large and small meeting spaces for various functions and activities. The Center contains the Joe V. Knox Auditorium, which has a seating capacity of 235.

Hope Park Day
Volunteers are needed to Build Hope Park, a community playground being developed in cooperation with the Town of Mooresville and the Lowe’s YMCA.

On March 10-14, hundreds of volunteers are needed to build the Hope Park playground. To encourage community volunteerism, Disney is donating a 1-day, 1-theme park ticket for free admission to one of the theme parks of Walt Disney World® Resort or the Disneyland® Resort when you sign up and complete a day of volunteer service with a participating organization such as Hope Park.

To qualify for a free ticket, interested volunteers must sign up for eligible volunteer opportunities for the “Give a Day. Get a Disney Day.” program through the Disney site. Participation in volunteer activities outside of the Disney sign-up process does not qualify for a free ticket.
