The Town Manager serves as the Town’s Chief Administrative Officer. He is responsible for implementing the policies of the Board of Commissioners, directing business and administrative procedures, and appointing departmental officers. The Town Manager is assisted by the Assistant Town Manager, Town Clerk and twelve staff departments.

Assistant Town Manager - Erskine Smith

The Assistant Town Manager assists the Town Manager with day-to-day operations of the Town. He acts in the manager's capacity when the manager is absent. Duties assigned to the Assistant Town Manager include Federal and State lobbying programs, intergovernmental relations, property acquisitions, special projects and project administration. The Assistant Town Manager has direct oversight and responsibility for the Planning, Recreation, Golf Course, and Library departments.

Town Attorney - Stephen P Gambill

It is the duty of the Town Attorney to prosecute and defend suits against the Town; advise the Mayor, Board of Commissioners and other Town officials with respect to the affairs of the Town; draft all legal documents and proposed ordinances relating to the affairs of the Town; inspect and pass upon all agreements, contracts, franchises and other instruments with which the Town may be concerned; attend all meetings of the Board of Commissioners when required by the Board; and perform such other duties as may be required of him by virtue of his position as Town Attorney.

The Town Clerk is appointed by the Board of Commissioners to keep a journal of the proceedings of the Board of Commissioners, maintain all records and documents pertaining to the affairs of the Town, and perform such other duties as may be required by law or as the Board of Commissioners may direct.
